Dr. Michael Giuffrida
Dr. Giuffrida specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery and surgery of the hand. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialists to meet the requirements for specialty in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Giuffrida is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. He is also a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and met the rigorous requirements needed to the join this prestigious organization. He specializes in cosmetic surgery, laser surgery and breast reconstruction.
Dr. Giuffida earned his medical degree from Tufts Medical School in 1989 after graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in Biology from Boston College. He graduated a Scholar of the College from B.C. and was recognized for the finest senior research thesis in his graduating class.
His post-graduate training included:
- General surgery internship at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA
- General surgery residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center (Chief Resident, final year)
- Residency / Fellowship in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA
- Pediatric training at Boston’s Children’s Hospital
- Additional Fellowship training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA
- Additional Fellowship training at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME
Dr. Giuffrida founded Hunterdon Plastic Surgery in 2001. In 2002 he founded Skin Care Specialists, LLC, dedicated to excellence in medical and aesthetic skin care.
Dr. Giuffrida is on the medical staff at Hunterdon Medical Center. He performed the first autologous breast reconstruction TRAM flap following mastectomy as well as the first silicone gel implant reconstruction following mastectomy at the Center. He also obtained approval to be an investigator of an FDA-approved study to offer women silicone gel implant reconstruction following mastectomy.
